Hormones - Can YOU Control Them

"The Secret of Controlling Hormones Revealed"

My hormones - some people love them. They're making me stronger and bigger. I have bigger muscles, and they make me feel amazing. Other people, it's hormones, they're making me fat. My hormones are out of control. However, how do we understand hormones? And if you talk to an endocrinologist - the hormonal experts - there's a huge argument among the experts about what's going on with their hormones.

What all do you know about your Hormones?

So here's a great question. Is it possible that hormones - the things that are responsible for regulating your body - stay at homeostasis? Do you like that? If something stressful happens, we produce cortisol to make sure that we don't feel stressed. If we're happy, our body produces hormones to make us feel happy.

So if we exercise or when we're hanging out with great people, or we're expanding our brain. Our body is capable of looking after us by the hormonal system that regulates our body and ensures that we stay healthy, fit and strong. So how do you control your hormones?

What do you need to know about them? Is it possible that that whole hormonal system is just part of the healthy body and a healthy mind? If we choose to be healthy, fit and strong, our hormonal system might just follow along?

Now, of course, some folks have genetic challenges. They have diseases that affect the endocrine system, which is the hormonal system. However, even if that's the case, is it possible that if you are healthy, fit and strong, you'll be able to handle, look after, recover from or control those challenges even better?

Or the reverse question is if you are weak, sick, or have a negative attitude, will it be much harder to handle because your body doesn't have enough strength and the mental toughness to make you feel better, even if you are feeling crappy?

What does the Research on Hormones say?

Usually, research studies in science are conducted about problems. Let's look at why we have got fat, sick, weak and diseased people. We have got people that are dying early. We've got people with mental illness. How did that happen?

Very few studies, if any, are done on how to prevent those challenges. How do we make sure that people don't get fat, don't get sick, don't get mentally challenged? How do we help people to stay healthy, fit and strong? So they don't end up in some research study because people are obese or because they have type two diabetes or have some kind of mental illness?

What if you could be the Boss of your Hormones?

Is it possible that if you have happy drugs pumping through your brain, so your brain is working effectively, and you have a mind that is not emotional? So it's not out of control, it's not super happy, it's not super sad. It's just you are living your life as a healthy and happy human being. Is it possible that we would then make better decisions about our food, about our exercise? Is it possible that a positive attitude would have a significant effect on everything else that we do?

And if we are healthy, fit and strong, is it possible that every other system inside the body will respond positively to our positive headspace? So if I'm continually thinking about I'm sick, I'm tired, I'm depressed, I'm anxious - my hormones are out of control. What would happen then? On the other hand, is it possible that if I live my life in a happy space that says I'm going to exercise every day, I'm going to pump happy drugs through my brain?

And that's the big question. If your brain is working effectively, if you feel good, if your serotonin levels are even, if you have dopamine, endorphins pumping through your brain, is it possible that your brain will be working effectively, which, of course, then controls the rest of the body?

Now the research is starting to look at that, and I'll give you a quote from a recent research study from a group of research scientists. They are just mulling things over at the moment. It's just a hypothesis. The suggestion was, is it possible that it's better to eat an unhealthy diet with a positive attitude than to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly under stress?

How does your Stress Hormone Cortisol help you?

I have to eat that. I can't have that. I mustn't have that. That isn't good for me. When we think like that, the body produces a hormone called cortisol, and this hormone is produced when we're stressed, anxious, and angry. It's a fantastic hormone. It's called the fight and flight hormone, which means if a tiger is chasing you or a burglar is chasing you, you come under stress, and you have to run away from something; then that cortisol steps in and you can run really fast.

However, the challenge with the stress that we have in the world now is that we don't do any physical activity. The anxiousness, being in a strained relationship, feeling bad in a job is that we don't do anything physical to run away. So the cortisol is released into our bloodstream. But because we don't exercise, we don't run; we don't fight, we don't punch, we don't kill the dragon. Then that hormone cortisol now is in our body. That's a very dangerous thing to happen as the hormone remains there.

How Stress Kills us?

As we are under stress, we are diseased. That's how we get sick; our hormonal, respiratory and cardiovascular systems get sick. Our body doesn't handle glucose very effectively because our insulin doesn't work properly. Now imagine, if the body is healthy, fit and strong, everything else will work itself out.

Sadly, about 10 per cent of the population of the Western world do any exercise. Ninety per cent of people in the world are either not exercising to the point that will affect their health or are not exercising at all.

How can you take Control of your Hormones?

We have got a world that is so sick, so weak and so diseased. Is it possible that your hormonal system - that beautiful regulatory system inside your body - stays healthy? If you spoil that system because you don't do any exercise and you don't put high-performance fuel into your body, is it possible that it will become diseased and then your hormones may well and truly take control of your body?

Interestingly, when you go out in the sunshine, when you dance, when you learn new things, when you hang out with positive and happy people who add value to your life; those happy drugs will then control the rest of your body because they control your brain.

So let's put it in a simple format. If you want to be healthy, feel strong and great every day, if it's vital to you to have healthy children that grow up in a world where we are not diseased, it's as simple as - let's get some regular exercise and lose some weight, let's make sure that we sleep well, drink enough water and eat more nutritious food too.

Couldn't Eating Food be your Choice?

And then that very controversial topic, which is food. How do you know what to eat? And you'll hear everything from 'only eat green vegetables' to 'only eat meat' and everything in between. And isn't it possible that we need to work that out for ourselves? If some people are healthy by eating green vegetables and some people are healthy by eating only meat, is it possible that you need to work it out for yourself? Have a look at the people who are fit, healthy, strong and live long. See what they're doing. You'll find that some people at one end of the scale and some people at the other end of the scale.

Be the Master of your Mind and Body

So, is it possible that you need to work it out for yourself? Is it possible that if you take control of your eating and exercise? If you take control of your exercise, you're taking control of your brain, because when you exercise, you're pumping happy drugs through your brain.

And does that mean you could think more clearly? You could make better decisions; you would decide to eat better food; you would choose to exercise more regularly because you feel good. The only way to feel good is to pump those happy drugs through your brain. The quickest, most effective way to pump heavy drugs through your brain is to exercise.

So get huffy-puffy. Exercise as many times as possible throughout the day even if it's only for a few seconds. Now, is it possible to control your hormones, manage your weight, control how you feel rather than have your hormones control you? Wouldn't that be awesome?
